My Story
I'm John — a freelance developer based in the Bay Area. I build web applications, internal tools, and AI-powered systems for small businesses and teams that need technology to work without the overhead of a full engineering department.
My path into software started with a simple question: why is so much everyday technology harder to use than it needs to be? That question still drives most of the work I take on.
How I Work
I care about shipping working software, not impressive demos. Every project starts with understanding the actual problem — what's costing time, what's breaking, what's missing. From there, I build the simplest thing that solves it reliably.
My stack is modern but practical: Astro and Svelte for fast, accessible frontends. Cloudflare Workers for serverless infrastructure. Sanity for content that non-developers can manage. And when it makes sense, AI tooling that actually reduces work instead of creating more of it.
What I Value
Clarity over cleverness. Working software over perfect architecture. Honest communication over polished pitches. I'd rather tell you something will take longer than promise fast and deliver broken.
I build things I'd want to use myself — tools that are fast, accessible, and respectful of the people who depend on them.
